If you’ve recently, or maybe not so recently, moved to Colorado, it’s time to register your car and get the official badge of Colorado resident, the license plate. Ok, so this activity isn’t as glamorous as say running in a beautiful area like Garden of the Gods, or as fun as shopping till you drop in Manitou Springs, but it could be.
There are four different DMV locations in Colorado Springs:
Colorado Springs, CO 80903
(719) 520-6240
Colorado Springs, CO 80903
(719) 520-6240
Colorado Springs, CO 80916
(719) 520-6240
Colorado Springs, CO 80918
(719) 594-8701
How to make this badge of honor process more fun? Bring a book, a nook, a magazine (or two), an iPod with some fun good-vibe music, or a laptop. Think about this time as a meditating time, a time-out from the daily stresses, smile about skipping out of work early to be here and how so-and-so will have to do it alone. Stop by a coffee shop or another place to treat yourself to some tasty refreshment before heading in to the DMV. If you are having a bad day or feeling very cynical, just be thankful that you aren’t “that guy or girl sitting over there.”
Most offices are extremely busy on the first day of the week. Some places may be closed on Mondays, others on Fridays so call ahead or view the website listed above. Some of the best times to go are around 2pm. The morning rush is over, and everyone wants to go home so the processing times seem to be shorter. Wednesdays and Thursdays are notoriously shorter wait times than Mondays and Fridays.
Be sure to have all of your paperwork along, and a check or cash to pay for the new plate and registration. At the end of your peaceful visit, you will be a proud Colorado plate carrying member!
